MISSION STATEMENT

The mission of Emma Kaufmann Camp is to provide and promote personal and individual growth, Jewish identity & values, and outstanding activities & instruction led by trained and qualified staff, in a safe and stimulating, child-centered camping environment for children and teens, while preserving and participating in the natural environment around us.

EKC Goals

Personal Growth - Emma Kaufmann Camp provides, supports and teaches positive interaction, independence and provides a family atmosphere in which campers develop social and leadership skills through group interaction and grow & mature in an environment that fosters physical, emotional and moral development; this is displayed through:

  • Tzrif (cabin) time: offering meaningful living experiences while placing an emphasis on camper/staff interaction during mornings, Nikayon (clean-up), Menucha (rest hour), dinner prep, mealtimes, and bedtime.
  • Teamwork: Group participation and teamwork are stressed in all activities.
  • Managing Emotion: helping campers and staff control feelings of success and disappointments

Jewish Identity and Values – EKC staff and camper’s model enthusiasm for Jewish identity and values & celebrate Jewish and Israeli culture through:

  • Respect and Appropriate behavior
  • Educational experiences
  • Shabbat Celebrations
  • EKC traditions

Camp Staff – Children will be inspired by their hero’s, our camp staff.  Emphasis is placed on:

  • Jewish Staff
  • Pre-Camp and On-going training
  • Communication
  • Targeting return and new staff

Safety

  • All staff has appropriate qualifications and training
    Campers are always supervised
    Security and Emergency procedures are in place and practiced

Outstanding Activities and Instruction – Emma Kaufmann campers will gain new skills and abilities through working with qualified, mature, sensitive and caring staff and teacher in a wide variety of camp programs by offering:

  • Challenges which campers can successfully accomplish to develop self esteem
  • A wide variety of activities
  • Quality programming
  • A broad opportunity to participate in new games and projects

This summer was incredible, it just gets better every year. EKC has changed my outlook on life completely and has lead me to a strong ambition to work with children. My career when i am older will involve working with children!
